Because mine doesn't seem to be! And I'm always surprised when I hear my recorded voice and think, "eww! I sound like THAT?! D:" about it and uh... yes. Hearing my recorded voice is like some form of torture or something! o_O

I have no idea if I'd recognise my mental voice if I heard a recorded version of it though. It would probably be an interesting thing to hear though. I wonder if I would be surprised by how THAT actually sounds if I heard it like that.

Not really... Not at all actually. I react much the same way you do, as I hate the way my recorded voice sounds. I'm embarrassed at how bad my voicemail on my phone sounds. I'm from the southern US, so my actual voice is much more accented than I would like to admit. Not like a hill billy, probably not even close, but I can detect traces of it and I hate it.

I fancy myself a bit of an intellectual too, so hearing myself sound so... "bad" is a bit crushing.

Mine used to sound like my speaking voice but more recently I started questioning the idea of my mind even sounding for various reasons and now it's sort of I know what I think but I don't hear any voice... it's hard to explain.

Just the words, images, and ideas.

I don't think so... My mental voice is usually pretty neutral-sounding, or something.

im pretty screwd up, so ive got alot of mental voices, but the one i mostly use is my younger voice in a british accent
