If you decide to comment, maybe you could elaborate on WHY you chose what you did...! I don't wear makeup at all. Ever. And I never will. And I find it quite unappealing to see on other girls (excessive amounts of... black STUFF around their eyes is really... "ugh." DREARY or something... It's unpleasant to look at, anyway... As is that powdery STUFF that goes all over the face and you can see it like... flaking off like some sort of skin disease...! o_O) since it's so... well, caring about physical appearance and "prettying yourself for the boiz" and competing to be the prettiest girl and so on, which is basically like saying, "I want to be with someone who thinks I'm PRETTY rather than someone who wants me for my personality!"
I suppose you could also mention if you do things with your hair before you start your day/any other beauty-related things... uh... I certainly don't do anything with MY hair and only brush it every few days and care not about being in public like that...! It also annoys me to hear people say, "oh, my hair is a mess! I shouldn't be in public like this!" or other similar things even though, to me (the "untrained eye," of course) they look fine.
But uh... yes. I don't like makeup/beauty products or anything like that and certainly wouldn't want to *look pretty* for people! (Also, if you read this comment and wear makeup and things, does it bother/annoy you (or just notice it in any sort of... negative way) if other girls DON'T? Why, exactly? And if you DON'T care for beauty things, have you ever had people comment on that in an annoyed sort of... "you're wrong for not using beauty products!" sort of way? I have! "You should do something with your hair!" or "why do you always wear pants like THAT...?" and so on. TELL ME YOUR STORIES!)
I wear makeup a fair bit, Firequill, but certainly not to the extent you seem to imply one might 'wear makeup.' I agree, too much makeup is a horrible look, especially later in the day when it's wearing off or smudged. Mainly, I wear it for my own self-esteem, rather than others' evaluations. When there's a giant zit on your chin, the last thing you want to do is have people stare at it all day. I also wear a bit of eyeliner to outline my eyes, as it seems to bring out the blue of my eyes that much more, which I like.
As for hair... heh. I certainly don't mind going out without more than a quick brush. Same goes with makeup: I don't have to wear it, it doesn't bother me if I don't, but if I have time I'll probably line my eyes and cover splotches. As my hair's quite short, I often put product in it and scrunch it up so that it's messy, too. But it's almost as quick as brushing it and putting it into a ponytail, and I think it looks nicer.
So yes, I do do a bit, but not all the time. And unless I'm going out (out-out, as in, someplace nice), it's more about how I like myself to look rather than conforming to other people's ideal of beauty.
All that said and done, however, I completely agree with what you're saying about the nosy/snobby girls who tell you to wear your hair this way or do this to your skin. It's all about conforming to a pre-set standard of beauty. I say, do it if you like it and it makes you feel good about yourself, and that's all. If you feel uncomfortable about it, or just think it's a waste of time, I say that's perfectly fine, too. It's all about what YOU want, not what OTHERs want.
Anyway, enough rambling from me. Of course, this is all just my opinion, and anyone who disagrees is entitled to their own!
Back in the day, in elementary school, when all the girly friends started being interested in BOYS, they started wearing makeup. I had yet to develop a real interest. Instead I focused on, y'know, the IMPORTANT things, like d-d-d-d-d-dueling, and catching 'em all. I had no interest in the crazy antics of my friends and their attempts to woo the opposite sex.
And, um, yeah, that hasn't really changed. I've only really seen make-up of almost any kind (with the exception of, like, stage actors and stuff) as an attempt to look attractive to guys. That may not be the case with everybody, but its always the first assumption I make, and will rarely be convinced otherwise. I know, not really fair, but too bad.
I have, however, been tempted to look into cover-up. I'm rather spotty, and have been for years, and sometimes I just feel sick of it. But whenever try to put something on my face, I take it immediately off, because I'm actually more terrified of people noticing I'm wearing cover-up than people noticing a big red blotch on my face. Lawl.
It's extremely rare that i wear makeup..usually only for special occasions like dances, formal events, or my colorguard competitons. Everyone always says i look pretty in makeup but the biggest thing with me is that i just don't like dealing with it. the powders and the lipstick and mascara etc. It's all just too much!! D: It's too time consuming to deal with it in the mornings..
I admit though, when i wear my contacts i put on a little black eyeliner to make my eyes stand out a bit cuz my face literally looks bland without my glasses O_o
coverup tends to help occasionally as well with little scars, pimples etc.

When people show me their pain and sorrow, I'll give em happiness and joy in return.
Heh heh I sometimes wear makeup, like eyeliner and that type of stuff mostly out of curiosity and also because my firends that are girls like putting makeup on me and my friend george.... Shuddup!
Yeshhhh, I wear makeups. D: Only light though, I usually wear eyeshadow and light amount of mascara, and clear lipbalm (and clear nailpolish when I remember...).
It's so light infact, that people only occasionally seem to notice it. Suddenly one day they will say, "Hey! You're wearing makeup!". Yeh, I wear it everyday argargagragra. Get this, all my life, when there's a day that I'm not wearing any, people comment that my makeup looks nice. What... the..? o__o
As for why I wear it, I do it for myself more than for anyone else. While personality may rule over looks, I like to bring out my personality in the way that I look. It helps with the little self esteem that I have. Since I was 16, I do stuff to my outward appearance that no one else is going to see anyway, but it makes me feel better about who I am. Even when I just at home, I will often still do the makeup and all that because it is a huge motivator for me to get things done. I guess it's hard to explain?
That being said, I do it for other people as well. For my family, friends, whatever. Not for guys though, I don't flirt and I don't like them looking at me ;-; . When I was little, my mum use to yell at me and cry because I didn't wear makeup. I let her down with everything I do, including my crappy personality, so I can at least do this for her. I am a very self concious person and always feel that every single person that I walk past on the street is judging me, so it's true that I never leave the house without spending time on how I look.
I would never wear eyeliner though, lol. XD It's way too close to my eyes and I freak out. When my mum use to force it on me on certain occasions, it would end in tears. XP
I don't mind at all if someone chooses not to wear makeup, they should be in charge of how they want to look, not me. I also get comments because me wearing a skirt as casual dress is a very rare occurance, but it should be my choice, not theirs.
Umm... okay my hair. XD That is something I constantly worry about to the point it's unhealthy. D: Well firstly, I get my hair cut and died at a hairdresser (based on FF character, yayz! 8D ). I wash it about every 3rd day at most. It's so annoying. >_> After I wash it, I use a hair dryer to straighten it and that takes soo long. D: Most people don't even realise that my hair isn't naturally straight (it use to be when it was down to my butt, but now at this length, it has these massive kinks in it that I can't stand looking at). I sometimes have to touch it up a bit with a hair straightner. Then to get rid of all the sticky up bits and fuzz, I brush in leave in hair conditioner and go lightly over the surface with hair wax. On days that I don't wash it, some oil has built up and got rid of the worst of the frizz, so I can pretty much just spend a few seconds brushing it, maybe putting in leave in conditioner if need be. Occasionally I tie it up. So because I usually leave it down, people probably think I didn't do anything to it, but it's actually quite a lot. :\
In conclusion, for me personally, your looks should show who you are inside and how well you look after yourself (I am -not- saying that wearing makeup means you don't look after yourself, it is purely a preference). If I don't look after how I look on the outside, it leads to really terrible procrastination and lower self esteem. To me it's not about competing with others or showing off to the opposite sex.
